Here, these parts it's not often that we get snow. But we did, and Ria had lots of fun. Here's my angel's 1st snow angel. 1st she played outside with Me, then by herself, and then with her friend (our next door neighbor). She had her fill of snow... and yes.. she DID eat some snow. (I saw you Ria..even though you were hiding it from me... pappa sees everything.. remember that!)

Ria had her first sleepover withou mumma and pappa at naanu's house. Angi Mamu & Muditta Maami were there for company & care. it was a new experience for Sami and I, but it was all good. Ria enjoyed it a lot and so did everyone else. I felt like I didn't see her for ages after seeing her the next afternoon.

Oh where the time has gone. Ria is 4 now...and she keeps on growing.

Excited, Nervous, Tired......

Ria Umbilical Cord finally fell off yesterday. That's the last physical bind she had to the womb, she is now completely detached (physically), and has a cute little belly button. Hmmm.. maybe I'll post a pic of it :-)

To this:

Ria has been a very good girl sooooooooooo far. Now she is trying to put whatever she can in her mouth. Maybe she is thinking "hummm that looks good, I shud try it" and whoooop in her mouth. OR maybe she is getting ready for teething, simple as that. I tried to put ice in a washcloth, tied it and gave it to her. As long as there is water coming out from the cloth she will keep sucking (I think she is enjoying the ice water more than the sucking) and once the ice melts, she starts to wine.....oooooooh oooooooh ooooooh :-( no offense to my little sweet baby but THAT IS ANNOYINGGGGGG !! I can only take so much of that winning (hope thats how its spells) little sound.

Ria had her first trip to Emerald Pointe this Sunday. She had LOTS of fun. She was a little scared at first, but felt right at home in the water. She even enjoyed the wave pole....closed her eyes and hugged me tight.

So the day is finally here, and Ria had her Ballet Recital. The evening was planned out as follows:

Arriving at The Little Gym, as you can see.. there was no performance anxiety on Ria's part -- Video is HERE

Here we are after 5 months!!

Well here I am again. Ever since Ria was born, I havent gotten a chance to add anything in the blog. Before she was born I thought I will write down all the little things she will be doing so everyone can keep track of her, but for the past 5 months I really havent thought about anything but her. Ria is in her 5th month now and boy she is growing fast. Since I have started working I really dont get too much time to spend with her. When I was at home for 4 months, I kinda took her for granted. NOW I look back and wanna slap myself for thinking about how a baby can completely so call "take over" your life. Which part of it is true but I can give up few things for my daughter.

The only new thing now is teething and probably her turning over. But she cant properly turn over all the way with the diaper on. So technically it doesnt really count. Hope she will get better at it..............

Oh and By the way did I mention, she has completely changed. I just looked at her picture from when she was born and the recent one, she looks alot better now..hehe well only because I have something to compare too. She was beautiful then too but looks a little better now. When she was born, the VERY first thought I had in my mind was "oh my god, she looks chinese" hehehe ;-) Just thought I mention that !!

Ria will meet a lot of family today! Most everyone from Charlotte is coming over to play with Ria, and it's a going to be a packed house. I hope Ria likes all the company and attention.....she should, I thought all women did ;-)

I will post pictures of the gathering later, in the same post..so check back on sunday or even monday.

Ria is doing fine so far...she cries...but all babies do. She eats, and it seems she wants to put everything in her mouth...Sami said, she might even eat her own cheeks if she could get to them. That only proves that she has inherited the good ole Dharmesh appetite...OH MY!!! Good Luck Ria.

Current Conditions: Hurricane Ria

So she's finally here. I am sure she would have stayed in there longer if that option was Availaible to her, but everyone was getting too anxious to meet her. I guess the feeling sinks in more and more day by day....that she is MY daughter. Filling out forms and writing YOUR name down in the parents section is an amazing feeling.

There is ofcourse going to be a little less sleep, but let me tell you this..when you hear your baby cry, sleep takes the back stage. She has been really good about crying too....she only does it when she is hungry or needs her diaper changed, and she sleeps like a ... hmm...baby?

It is amazing how much Sami has to go through to bring Ria into this world. She has been SO strong through this whole process, where no doubt, there was a lot of pain. Yet, there is not a single world of complain from her. My hats off to her, and I thank her for giving us ALL the wonderful gift of... RIA.

Here's to welcoming the girl, that will stay on my #1 spot for a VERY VERY long time. (sorry sami, mom, tinu & dolly :) )

She is only my baby....no matter what anybody else says....She will always be my baby....She is soochh sooochhh cute....No matter what anybody writes she is after all gonna be with me 24/7 hurrayyyyy.......Congrats brother and bhabhi...and thanks a lot for the wonderful gift...Adoption paper's should be here any day now =) hehe....I can' wait for her to come home today...Everything is going to be change...what a difference one person makes...Life will never be the same...it has gotten a lot better now....I sometimes wonder if I can handle all this happiness....she is wonderful....Lots of love and best wishes for Ria....

Ria ping is now my baby, sorry Dolly Didi and Kunal, I'm back on top in this line. Ria is so cute, I'm telling you, when she came out, she looked at Angie's joorah and started crying (don't worry Ria, I do that every morning) but its a good thing that I'm here, to set the good-looking example in Ria's life. She has very long legs, which is a plus in my book. I may not have my own little daughter, but I will raise Ria like she had been my own. (haha) When the baby started crying, I was like Shud oup, put your head oup (Angad ping, Sami ping, Jiju Ping)

I give my respects to Sami, for she has gone through a miraculous, but discordant experience. Jiju deserves some credit; he has been in the hospital all day long.

OH YES! SHES FINALLY HERE!!!!!!!!
Finally, more than 10 months later she decides to pop up into our lives. I'm thinking if she wasnt induced she would stay a little longer but we were all getting tired of waiting. When i first saw Ria in the nursery getting cleaned up and when the nurse brought her closer, I waved at the precious thing and she opened her eyes and put her hand up too. I promise if I could I would cry. That is something that will stay in my head for the rest of my life. She is sooooooooooo CUTE! Today she fell asleep in my arms and then we slept right next to each other. It was a moment to remember. CONGRATULATIONS JIJU AND SAMI. Keep'em coming! HAHAHAHA

Coming to an End....

It has been a looooooooong time since I have posted. Nothing exciting is going on other than waiting for our baby. I am already thinking of future planning but I should be more thinking about the coming event which is LABOR !!!! I am confident that I will go thru with it alright but there is always this thought in my mind what if things doesn't go as planned. My whole pregnancy was normal didnt have problems so I really hope to god that my baby is born without any complications. I will have my big baby (Dharmesh) beside me, I know by looking at him everything will be alright !! :-)

Another reason everyone is waiting for our baby is because they DOUBT that its going to be a girl. I don't have any doubts about our baby being a girl but everyone has confused meeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee!!!! I wish from the very beginning we have told everyone with 100% surety that Its a GIRL, in that way no one would have been confused. :-) Well we just have to wait and see. In this case we should also think of a Boys name also, i am for sure not going to name our boy " RIA"....hehe!! This is my last week to work, I am sure I can make it to work for another week but dharmesh wont let me....I dont know what I will do at home, I cant just sit all day and rest...even if I walk it wont last more than 20-30 min, then I am back to boredom again. I hope to have the baby by next weeek...that would be greeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeat!! will keep u guys updated...till than Ta Ta !!

Does anyone else see the numbers on the right side getter smaller and smaller :-) It says 29 days... but that's full 40 weeks. The doctor has said that a "normal" delivery could be anytime between 09/26-10/20 . So could be next week..or a couple of weeks after that...

Well well well .... painting the room was a big task, but as usual..we got it done just fine. Here are two pics from the album, and you can access the rest by clicking on the Title :-)

This is the first touch of paint in the room...by the parents to be :-)

And..this is the almost complete room.

It was a lot of fun. We are going to put a princess border on the wall soon. Will post pics for that as well. Let me know what you think about the color, and how it looks.

Some Updates.....

Well time for some updates now......

1) We went to another doctors visit this friday, and everything was just fine. The doctor said that another 2.5 weeks and we should be home free....meaning that if Sami goes into labor after 2.5 weeks , then the baby would be perfectly normal and healthy. It doesnt mean that she WILL delivey in 2.5 weeks...but IF she does, then it's perfectly normal. So i guess we have to wait out another 17 days..... :-)

2) We are painting Ria's room today. The color was decided to be light purple. Me and Angi were over-ruled by Sam, Dolly, and Anjun :-P ..... and the side switcher that shall not be named .. *cough*mom*cough*... I should take something for this cough. We already bought all the paint and brushes....so anyone who wants to give us a hand... come on over after 3 pm. Me, Sam, Dolly, Angi, Anjun will be starting the job, and Mom as usual..will be providing refreshments.......and Anjun....as usual will be finishing them up LOL j/k ;)

Ready for the small visit......

I have started packing my bag which I will need to take with me once its time to go to the hospital. I dont really know what kinds of things I will be needing and I can not take all the things that I WIll be needing because according to my MIL they provide alot of stuff in the hospital. But you know why rely on them. If everything goes smoothly then I will only stay at hospital probably 2-3 days, and I hope the baby comes on a good day (according to my MILs calender). I am hoping things will be normal.

I have packed the following:

2 Recieving blankets
2 Baby's body suits
1 pair of clothes for the baby to wear back home
2 pair of baby's booties (its sooooooo cute, one of her sock only fits in one of my finger) :-)
4 Diapers (2 different sizes, Since I dont know how big are the butts of a baby's so i took one larger than the other, if the baby goes on ME than she probably might need the larger size..hehe)
1 baby blanket

and now for me:

1 Pajamas set
1 Nighty
Liptick and hairbrush (gotta look presentable for my pictures with my baby)
Socks
Some personal stuff (cant tell ya all) :-)
Something to wear home (havent decided what to wear home though)

That should be enough, if I missed something let me know!!

Yes, it is! Having a baby does not mean you have to be fat. Lots of new moms regain their pre-pregnancy figure within 8-12 months. True, it takes time for your body to get back to normal, but don't despair. Eat properly, get active and let nature do the rest.

Don't rush out and start dieting after the birth.

How long before you reach your pre-pregnancy weight?

If your weight gain during pregnancy was no more than the recommended 22- 30 pounds, you should be able to return to your pre-pregnancy weight within about 8 months. This may sound slow, but you really can't lose weight much faster and stay healthy at the same time.

Month and a Half to eat !!

Since the day is coming closer for our baby to be born, my days are coming closer as well for quitting food. I have gained alot of weight so far and I know in my heart that I will do whatever to loose that, but its gonna be a little hard this time to loose weight.

1) Always with Baby 24/7 (good and bad)
2) Hard to start Low-Carb and Low Fat diet again
3) Unable to excersice when I feel like
4) NO CHOCOLATE or CAKE or Indian Sweets or Ice-Cream
5) Can not eat REAL Bagel with Cream Cheese.....Low carb bagel stink

One thing that can motivate me is that I dont buy any regular large clothes, I should stick to Maternity clothes. That way I would HAVE to go back to my previous weight which is 40 pounds lighter :-( Its all gooooooooooooood though. My baby and I will go for walks since we will be home all the time.

Well..it's been a while since "I" updated. Last friday (On Sami's birthday none the less :) ) was the bi-weekly checkup again, and everything went fine. According to the doctor...the babys' head is in the bottom position now, but sami's doesnt seem to believe him.

Being in her 8th month, I thought that the trip to Charlotte we took this weekend would be harder. But it was fairly uneventfull, thanks to Sami I suppose, as there were lots of bumps on the road; and I am sure the baby was giving her hell :-P

Pediatrician chosen !!!

Well since the end is coming closer and closer, we need to prepare for all the necessary things before the baby arrives. Since we dont have many days left, because after the 36th week the baby can come anytime. I shouldn't rely for the real delivery date which is Oct. 20th, if you think about it that way then I have lots of days left. But I like to think that we dont have many days left.

Yesterday we decided on the Pediatrician, ek toh hamare ghar ke samne hai aur doctor kaafi acchi lagi hum ko. She opened her own private office. She sounded good but I hope we dont have to take our baby as often, only regular visits. :-) The reason I also liked her is because she is the ONLY doctor there, so when I take our baby for doctors visit, it wont be different doctors seeing my baby. At least this way our baby will get used to only one doctor and be more comfortable with her. New faces are not always amusing for some kids.

Bus ab pediatrician chose kar liya, room ready ho gaya meri baby ka, aur ab bus labor ki chinta shuru...hehe !! thats another biiiiiig headache.

Monday Update !

Its monday morning, did not want to come to work, but coming to work is like taking a break. I dont really have to do anything, just sit relax and get paid for..hehe..cool na !! At work they really take good care of pregnant women, actually where ever you go they are nice to ya. My test lead is also pregnant and Indian too so she believes whatever I tell her :-). anyways, guess whatttttttt I only have 4 more weeks to gooooooooo (according to MY calculation) then the baby can come anytime, day or night. I think this past week my stomach grew a little (touchwood), so i guess my baby is growing for a change, and not ME. Now the weeks are going by fast, this week should go by faster. First Rakhee then Charlotte. There will be a small get together for our birthday and Rakhee celebration, 2 in 1. That should be fun, and this week will be over. Then another monday another week. TiMe is getting closer and closer for our babies arrival.

One week passed after starting my 8th month. You know when you are waiting for something, it takes its precious time. I wish this month goes quickly and smoothly (thats what I have been saying for the last seven months) :-) The ninth month is going to be a little tough and also scary. Its Scary because I will be leaving my outside life behind for my baby for at least a year if everything works out, which I dont really mind staying home but still I dont want to miss out on anything. Right now staying home is like sooooooo quiet, looking for work to do around the house, or just watch TV. Later it will be baby this baby that, baby crying, cleaning baby all the time, feeding, cleaning again...hehe. I hope my baby is NOT picky in eating. I dont want to run around the room later to feed her, she should just wait for me to bring her food and finish everything (I guess this is too much to ask from a baby) :)

I hope our baby is chubby baby, I have a little competition going on at work from all the people I know who already had their baby. I want mine to be the fattest and of course CUTEST, which shouldn't be a problem because her mom is soooooo cute herself..hehe !!! I know some people will AGREE to that....rite dharmesh???!!! (good)

Had Enough !!

Ok......I had enough #*%^%(*&! I want my baby now, and want to go back to my regular clothes size. She is moving so much inside which makes me WANT to see her. I want to see her Yawn, suck her thumb, and strech after waking up. Thats going to be soooooooooo cute!!! Now when she moves my whole stomach goes side ways, left to rite. Its like my baby is teasing me..."ha ha you cant see me..suffer mom suffer!!!" One more reason I want her out is so I can get sleeeep..not easy sleeping at night because I move around alot during sleep. Now when I turn I have to shift MY WHOLE stomach and wait for the baby to drop the other side...hehehe. I guess these last two months is going to be the hardest, but once the baby is born its not like I am going to get sleep anyways. So I should or everyone in our house should enjoy the quietness around the house.

I think Dharmesh is getting eager now as well to see the baby....pappa gotta suffer as well as mom.

Bi-Weekly Doctor's Visit

So today we went by the doctor for the bi-weekly doctor's appointment. She just asked us if we had any questions, and we got to listen to Ria's heartbeat. It was around 130. The doctor said, "oh, we must have caught her at nap time". It was so cute :-)

Cant wait to SEE her take a nap. Sooooon....sooooon

Awaiting our Babies arrival !!

Well, I am starting my 8th month on Saturday and sooooooo happy that its finally ending. We have been waiting for too long for this month since its the ending and can make some preparations for the babies arrival. As you can see we have started on the babies room recently and eventhough the baby will sleep in our room for first couple of months. Dharmesh and I go in that room everyday and feel our baby presence. Its also sad in a way to see the crib empty. Just another month or so then we will have the most precious and adorable baby whom will love more than our selves.

Its too bad Dharmesh can not feel what I feel and I am not talking about getting sick or anything, I mean the babies movements. In a way I should actually feel lucky that my first and second trimester went fine, I didnt have any health problems or particular sicknes. The pregnancy is SO FAR going smoothly, I just hope labor goes smoothly too. Will worry about that when the time comes!!
Right now I should enjoy the wonderful feeling I feel during pregnancy, for instance just sitting at work or at home, seeing my stomach goes pop from one side to another...or sometimes some air pops (like the baby farted) or a feeling weird stuff deep inside the stomach (that feeling I dont like, its very annoying because I cant make it stop) It feels like she is scratching the womb to annoy me, and it WOrks everytime.

The recent experiment I experienced was baby getting startled. I was cleaning up things going up and down stairs, I suddenly feel baby hardening from time to time from moving fast or from loud noices. Well as you know ME being a genious, I made some noices with the chair downstairs or got up quickly and every time the baby hardens, hehe...its kinda cute feeling. I did that couple of times to see if she can hear that, and it turns out she can recognize loud noises (Dont worry I read loud noises will not harm the baby)

so today was the first day of school. we didnt do anything but write down our information for the teachers, which really i was prefectly fine with it. i saw friends i havent seen in awhile and that was probably the best part of them all. well no...the best part was after school when i met a friend that ive never seen since 7th grade. but no details provided. im just waiting for Saturday to go to jiju's house and have another project to work on. well for right now thats all i have to say because i have to eat my subway sandwich.

so the summer has finally ended. sure im ready to go back to school and get out of the house. the only problem i have and will always have is waking up early and coming home after school. yesterday i was out most of the day at the mall getting some school clothes and then i had a gyro for lunch and it was great. i headed to jiju's house and we moved the mattress down stairs in the garage and then we made Ria's playpen. like last time there were some techniqal difficulties that followed. as smart as i am i just asked jiju to use the instructions BUT "NOOOOOOOOO, MEN DONT READ INSTRUCTIONS." oh yeah proved how manly you were. HAHAHA. so we ended up using them and then what was a 5 min. job ended up taking bout 30 min. eventually we got it done and then took pictures like we always do. it was a great day and i can do it everyday.

haha that was one of the best days ive spent with Aunty (daadi), Sami (mommy), Jiju (PAPA), Dolly didi (Foi), Arjun (mama). On Saturday Aug. 7, 2004 we had a mission that needed to accomplished and that was making the CRIB! Ofcourse somethings went wrong when trying to construct an object; im not going to say any names; but hey im just human, i make mistakes too! Well after jiju got that out of his system we got right back to work. We had no time to spare because the Mama's had to hurry back home. HAHA. So we waited for Dolly didi to arrive home so she can also help with the crib and then with the finishing touches we completed this unbelievable task. Actually it was quite simple because there were only like 10 screws to put in. Then the time finally came.....the crib was done and we got treated to Goodberrys. Ive never seen a papa get so excited over ice cream. HAHA. Just kidding jiju. Now the only thing missing in that crib was baby RIA!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

This weekend, we (Me, Angad, Arjun, Sami, Dolly) will be setting up Ria's crib, and STARTING on her room.

Future planning includes painting and decorating her room. The color is still not decided upon... but the current favorite seems to be lite bright green. Any color suggestions will be appreciated and considered.

Maa: The Mother

Throughout the ages, this relationship has stood the test of time. Rituals, ceremonies, cultures, technology changed, but that special bond that a child has with it's mother remains unaltered.

What makes this bond so strong? so special?.

It cant be because the mother loves the child more than the father does, as love for the child is unconditional from both sides. The more logical reason would be the impact that the mother has on the first 9months of the child's unborn life. The child is a PART of the mother, they are one and the same. The needing relationship of the child/mother begins as soon as it is conceived and never stops, even after the umbilical cord is cut. This 9months forms a permanent bond between the child and mother. Quite honestly, I am jealous. Women often complain about the inconveniences of pregnancy and child birth.... and it's quite understandable. But I wouldn't mind going through with it, if it meant that I would know my child better than anyone in the world.

It might be taken as a cliche when your mother says "I know you 9months more than you know yourself", but .. IT'S TRUE.

alrighty then.....as everyone knows im going to be the best mama ever. I dont know but i think babyies like me its just a curse i have to live with everyday. Okay some babies might look on top of my head when they first meet me but they love it what can i say. Ria is going to be soooo lucky to have a family like us. I always say a family need diversity and thats how im going to be. I cant wait 'til Ria can interact with me so i can make her laugh. Even if i dont say anything funny she will laugh and make me feel good. But i always say funny. Well i will sign again. PUNJABI FO' LIFE!!!!!

Food confusion !!

Hummm...where should I start from. Well, food seems to be a very big issue during pregnancy. What type of food is good for the baby, eating nutritional food, what will help the baby grow, blahblahblah !!! From my personal experience during pregnancy, I dont have a choice on what types of food to eat. Even before pregnancy I personally never liked vegetables or Indian food (because alot of veggies are involved) and now especially during this stage I dont feel like eating indian food as much. Maybe my baby will end up eating alot of veggies or maybe she won't, who knows ! The point is, I don't like veggies, so dont make meeeeeeeeeeee eat it. ( I admit I am a little picky about food-just a tiny bit) Since Dharmesh will eat anything, I dont mind if the baby takes after him for food preferences. (just don't go over board with food, otherwise she will regret later) :-)

Dharmesh should feel lucky because I did not get any type of cravings. The baby should thank me later for not eating certain foods since it will be a problem later, such as WATERMELON AND BANANAS (these two are small examples). I loooooove both of those fruits and couldn't wait till summer came so I can gulp down a whole watermelon, but me being so sweeeeeet, I gave them up for my little girl so she won't end up having a cold (old wives tale if during pregnancy eating too much watermelon or bananas or cantolope in the last 3 months, the baby comes out with a COLD) I guess my three months sacrifice will help the baby for her rest of her life. (ain't I sweeeeeet).

Ok bahut ho gaya, ab mujhe bhook lag gayee khane ke baare mein sochteh sochteh !! :-)

Food For Thought

So what are some thoughts on eating habits of the mother-to-be while
she carries the baby? Would it be fair to the child that the mother
eats food that the baby might not like when it grows up? More
importantly, would it fair to the mother to change her eating habits
to give the baby a choice. What I am trying to say is...Let's say
that you eat chicken while you're pregnant, now wouldnt that be
forcing the baby to eat chicken? What if the baby turns out to be
vegetarian, can she REALLY make a claim that she is vegetarian, when
the foundation of her life; her initial growing process was done on
chicken and fish?

I am not pulling towards either side, but it's an interesting thought.
